Quick answer
For a new Lagos Life player, build repeatable income through completed job shifts and affordable side gigs, then buy an income asset only after reserving upcoming bills. A business can add daily cash; land ties up money until you sell. A Nepo start can invest sooner, while a LAPO start must include loan payments in the budget.

| Your current position | Next useful action | What it solves |
|---|---|---|
| No job | Apply through Phone → Jobs | Establishes scheduled shift income |
| A job, but low pay | Train its promotion skill and complete shifts | Opens the next pay level when performance reaches 100% |
| Spare activity time | Pick an eligible side gig | Adds income without changing careers |
| ₦500,000 plus a separate cash buffer | Compare the POS Stand | Opens the cheapest configured business |
| Enough money for a larger asset and its losses | Compare businesses or haulage | Adds a larger daily income route |
| Bills covered and money you can leave invested | Compare land | Trades immediate liquidity for later resale value |
This is a budget-based progression, not a promise of a fastest exploit. The figures below use official game data checked on 4 October 2026. Earnings are virtual naira; the official terms say they cannot be cashed out or traded outside the game.
Start with the bills, not the wallet total
For a LAPO Baby, the borrowed part of the opening balance comes with repayments:
| Home | Weekly rent | Normal seven-day LAPO payment | Reserve for one rent-plus-loan cycle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mushin | ₦2,400 | ₦12,000 | ₦14,400 |
| Yaba | ₦6,000 | ₦12,000 | ₦18,000 |
Rent is processed on Saturday morning. The loan follows its own seven-day payment cycle, so keep both upcoming charges covered. Add food, travel and any overdue amount to the reserve.
As a simple base-pay example, five entry Banking shifts total ₦21,000. After one normal Mushin rent-plus-loan cycle, that leaves ₦6,600 before everyday costs; in Yaba it leaves ₦3,000. This is arithmetic from the scheduled pay, not a week-one guarantee: the day you start, missed shifts, expenses and updates can change the result.
Nepo Babies normally have rent covered and a level 3 job, but spending their entire ₦500,000 opening balance still leaves no liquid buffer. Check the Nepo versus LAPO comparison for conditions that can change rent support.
Improve the job you already have
Banking leads entry pay at ₦4,200, but your next promotion can matter more than changing to a new entry job. Promotions require 100% performance and the career skill: levels 1, 3, 5 and 7 for promotion to job levels 2–5.
Use Go to work on scheduled days and finish the shift. Winning four work tasks activates the configured 15% task bonus. If you finish with full performance and no promotion, read the skill requirement before spending another day only on work.
Compare career pay and working days rather than ranking jobs solely by their level 5 payment. Switching starts the new career at level 1.
Use gigs for the gap between shifts
A gig is an activity with a payment, rather than an owned asset. Help at the Buka pays a configured ₦700, and Carry Load pays ₦900, with no skill threshold. WhatsApp Hustle scales with Hustle without a required equipment purchase. Skilled gigs can pay more once you qualify.
Choose using three checks: do you meet the skill requirement, can you afford the upfront cost, and can your needs support the activity? Deduct stock or entry fees before comparing a gig's reward. Travel costs and cooldowns also affect the result.
The side-gig table lists the activities, equipment, skill gates and reward formulas. A Laptop Desk is useful for a Coding route, but buying it before you qualify for Freelance Gig will not unlock that income immediately.
Buy recurring income when the buffer survives the purchase
The POS Stand in Yaba costs ₦500,000. On a normal day it produces ₦2,000–₦7,000 after running costs, before tax. Its configured bad day instead loses ₦4,500. It pays through the daily evening settlement, not once for each job shift.
A practical purchase check is:
Money left after purchase ≥ upcoming bills + living costs + room for a business loss.
One bad-day amount is a useful starting allowance, not protection against multiple bad days. The first business purchase records the current day, so do not use a same-day payout to fund an immediate bill.
The business comparison includes six options, resale values and estimates that include bad-day risk. Selling returns only 60% of the configured purchase price, so a business is costly to buy and immediately reverse.
Where the Mack Haulage Trailer fits
The trailer costs ₦18,000,000. Its configured normal daily income is ₦90,000–₦160,000, minus a ₦30,000 driver cost: ₦60,000–₦130,000 before tax. A breakdown day has an 8% configured chance and replaces that income with a ₦95,000 repair loss. Up to three trailers can be owned; resale returns 60%.
It is another capital-heavy daily income route, not an early substitute for a job. Check Phone → Invest for the current haulage offer and confirm the owned trailer count after purchasing.
Buy land for later resale, not next week's bills
The cheapest configured plot is Ikorodu at ₦1,500,000. Land increases in value over holding time; it does not deposit a daily wage. Selling deducts 5%, and some plots have a chance of an additional 10% purchase-time omo-onile charge.
An increased displayed value can still leave you below your total cost when you sell. Use the land prices and break-even guide before committing cash you may soon need.
Understand the in-game tax
The configured weekly system is progressive: each rate applies to the income within its band, rather than to all earnings.
| Eligible weekly income slice | Marginal rate |
|---|---|
| First ₦1,000,000 | 0% |
| Above ₦1,000,000 up to ₦10,000,000 | 20% |
| Above ₦10,000,000 up to ₦50,000,000 | 40% |
| Above ₦50,000,000 | 45% |
For example, ₦1,200,000 of eligible income in one game week produces ₦40,000 tax: 20% of the ₦200,000 above the allowance. The game rounds deductions and checks the accumulated weekly amount. Salary, gig rewards and positive business/haulage settlements can be taxable; check Bank for your own totals.
This is a game mechanic, not Nigeria's real-world tax system. Asset sale proceeds and an increase in land's displayed value should not be treated as ordinary wage payments.
Check actual payments before making the next purchase
After a shift or gig, read the payment notice and Bank balance. After an asset settlement, read its income or loss notice. Use that actual cash position for the next decision, rather than a table's maximum payout.
Do not build a plan around gifts from other players. In a 4 October developer post, sending money was described as awaiting restoration. That announcement does not verify the function's current state; check the game before relying on a transfer.
If a balance or asset is unexpectedly missing, record what the game shows and seek support instead of treating another purchase as a fix. Keep your next bills covered while the issue is resolved.
